The Campaign for Equal Justice (The Campaign) is a collaborative, statewide, annual fundraising campaign that unites the efforts of groups all across the State that raise financial support for civil legal aid for low-income Washingtonians and lets you make one philanthropic decision for equal justice funding (click here to see a list of benefiting agencies). In 2004, LAW Fund, the Eastside Legal Assistance Program (www.elap.org) and the King County Bar Foundation (www.kcbf.org) consolidated their fundraising appeals to King County law firms to test the Campaign model. Law firms generously responded to the idea of making one annual gift for equal justice funding. To see a list of these generous King County law firm supporters, click here.
Beginning this fall, the Campaign for Equal Justice will become a a fully integrated, statewide Campaign that employs a unified “ask” to law firms, individuals, corporations and foundations for civil legal aid support. Efforts to raise support for the Campaign will be taking place in Snohomish, Pierce, Thurston, Chelan-Douglas, Clark, Spokane, Whatcom, Clallam, Kitsap, Lewis Counties and beyond.
The success of the annual Campaign for Equal Justice relies upon an entire statewide network of volunteers who help us raise the funds that support civil legal aid programs throughout Washington -- we couldn't do it without them! Each fall, volunteers from all corners of the state contact between five and ten colleagues, friends and community members by phone, email or personal visit to ask them to join them in making a financial contribution to support the Campaign for Equal Justice. By working together, we're changing lives and making our communities safer, fairer places to live.
